Come join us for November’s First Friday in Downtown Norwich for an evening of standards and jazz favorites. Lisa Marien will be accompanied by jazz guitarist William "Fox" Mills.
As always, we recommend reserving a spot in the dining room as our First Friday + music events draw a crowd. Reservations can be made through the tab on our website.
“(Lisa's) is a voice that flows like raw honey, and her supple way with lyrics and melody are a bewitching combination of homage and deeply personal interpretation.”
— Rick Koster, Arts and Culture reporter, The Day
Lisa Marien has been performing jazz concerts in Southeastern Connecticut and Rhode Island for over 30 years. Recently, several key events have positioned her to move her career into a broader arena. In 2014, Lisa met Grammy nominated pianist John di Martino (Janis Siegel, Jon Hendricks, Houston Persson). In 2015, she co-created a Sarah Vaughan tribute show that felt “so right” she decided to take the plunge into recording, at which time di Martino signed on as the project’s musical director. In 2016, several vocal coaching sessions with Claude McKnight (of 10 time Grammy award winning a cappella group Take 6) paved the way for him to become Lisa’s vocal coach for the album. And just one year ago, her debut album Just For Once was released, giving her the means to pursue performances at venues far and wide. Recent performances at The Side Door Jazz Club and at La Grua Center in Stonington confirm that Lisa’s heading in the right direction.
